My sculptures are an expression of what I love about Australia and it’s native wildlife.
Looking to nature for inspiration from my rural home in the Whitsundays, with It’s vast array of birds and wildlife I never run out of ideas.
I repurpose stainless steel cutlery, scrap metals and reclaimed hardwood timbers to depict the unique natural beauty of Australian birds and wildlife and their shy nature. My approach to a sculpture starts with the cutlery and an idea sketched on paper. Working with the lines, patterns and curves of the cutlery to portray the image I have in mind. I use a variety of techniques to construct my sculptures including TIG welding, heating & bending, engraving, sanding and polishing. It is a experimental and sometimes challenging process but also rewarding as I develop new methods with every piece I create.
My goal as an artist is to create art that is pleasing to the soul, sparks wonder & curiosity and is always evolving.
Colin Stokes Australian Metal Artist Unique Artwork wall art design
I am the artisan behind the quirky nesting boxes & copper healing jewellery. I wanted to create collectable art that is recycled and helpful for our beautiful wildlife & environment. I imagine people’s gardens filled with unique homes, sparking a sense of wonder about the beautiful birds, insects, frogs, possums, or bats that might be calling them home. Each piece is designed to be a fun and functional addition to your garden, inviting nature to thrive in the most imaginative ways. Quirky, rustic, whimsical & anything Australian is mostly the theme & inspiration for my nesting boxes & native stingless bee hives.
I also handcraft healing copper jewellery and tensor field rings, each piece created is infused with energy to enhance both your spirit and your connection to the earth to promote wellness and balance.
I hope my passion for art, love for nature & holistic health is reflected in my quirky nesting boxes & healing copper jewellery.
